Matt Damon settles into Dalkey life as he hits up SuperValu after raving about ‘beautiful’ Ireland

Matt Damon is embracing life in Ireland quite well, during the pandemic.

The Ocean’s Eleven actor has been isolating in Dalkey with most of his family for the last two months, as he was filming The Last Duel in the area as lockdown was enforced.

And the 49-year-old was spotted doing a food shop at SuperValu, loading up on the essentials for wife Luciana Barroso and their daughters, Isabella, Gia and Stella.

He kept his head down as he made his way out of the supermarket, rocking a navy t-shirt, jeans and a black hoodie.

The Oscar-winner completed the look with a black baseball cap.

Matt recently opened up about how he ended up in Ireland with his brood during isolation.

Appearing on Spin 103.8’s Fully Charged radio show, he told hosts Graham O’Toole and Nathan O’Reilly: ‘It was before the lockdown.

‘I’m in the middle of a movie, we shot the first half in France and were moving to Ireland. Right when we arrived in Ireland, the movie was shut down.

‘That would have been early March, I guess. Two months ago, I think.’

And the Good Will Hunting star admitted he’s loving life in Dalkey, describing the area as ‘one of the most beautiful’ places he’s ever been.

‘Oh, it’s incredible. This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been,’ he continued. ‘Obviously what’s going on in the world is horrible, but for my family it timed out right.

‘It feels a little like a fairytale here, it’s gorgeous.’

Unfortunately, Matt is not surrounded by his entire family, as eldest daughter Alexia contracted coronavirus in the US, while at university in New York.

The 20-year-old – Luciana’s daughter with ex-husband Arbello Barroso – did not accompany the gang on their trip as she was concentrating on her studies.

‘Our oldest daughter is in college, she’s in New York City. She had Covid really early on, along with her roommates and got through it fine,’ he added.

While the Damon family are planning on returning to the US when lockdown is lifted – he insisted he will be returning to Ireland soon after to finish filming.
