Tame Impala announce they have rescheduled their Australian tour dates for December amid COVID-19 

Tame Impala have rescheduled their Australian and New Zealand tour dates for December 2020.  

Their shows were originally set to be held throughout April, but the Feels Like We Only Go Backwards hitmakers were forced to change plans amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. 

The beloved Western Australian act announced the newly rescheduled dates on Friday, with the tour kicking off in Auckland on Saturday December 5.

The psychedelic music project will then continuing touring through Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Laneway Presents, Chugg Entertainment and Frontier Touring were forced to make the changes after coronavirus-related Government directives to limit the size of public gatherings in both Australia and New Zealand.

The touring companies have apologised to ticket-holders for any inconvenience and thanked Tame Impala fans for their support and understanding in the unprecedented situation.

Supporting act Khruangbin revealed they were unable to join Tame Impala on their new dates and a new opener will be announced in the near future.   

While the touring company encouraged attendees to keep their tickets in order to support the local music scene, patrons who cannot attend will receive a full refund.     

Tame Impala claimed first place on Triple J's Hottest 100 of the Decade countdown in March, with their 2015 track 'The Less I Know The Better'.

Speaking to Triple J after his win, frontman Kevin Parker said: 'It's a dream come true. It's something that I have always dreamed about, ever since I started listening to it.' 

He added: 'I can't describe how much of a big thing it is. Hottest 100 is the closet thing to my heart'. 

Tame Impala had four singles place in the top 100, including Let It Happen and Feels Like We Only Go Backwards. 

As of Friday evening, there are 3112 cases of coronavirus in Australia and 13 deaths.

December 10 -  Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney, New South Wales 



December 13 - Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Victoria

December 16 - Adelaide Entertainment Centre Arena, South Australia



December 19 - RAC Arena, Perth, Western Australia
