Ewan McGregor is tormented as he stars in the FINAL trailer for The Shining's sequel Doctor Sleep

The final trailer for The Shining's eagerly-anticipated sequel, Doctor Sleep, has been released. 

39 years following the cinematic release of author Stephen King's famous novel adapted for the big screen, the story of Danny Torrance continues as teased in the last clip before the flick's release on November 8th. 

Directed by Mike Flanagan, (Stanley Kubrick passed away in 1999), the trailer sees now-adult Danny (Ewan McGregor) still being tormented by the events of his childhood, as is depicted in the eerie new scene with the infamous the Grady twins.

In the first film, Danny's father [Jack Nicholson] became possessed by the malevolent ghosts of the hotel he and his family stayed in, alone, for the winter, only to become obsessed with the idea of murdering his own family. 

And the new trailer begins with Ewan stating: 'When I was a kid there was a place, a dark place, they closed it down and let it rot. 

'But the things that lived there, they come back.'

The trailer sees Danny meet Abra [played by Kyliegh Curran] who shares the same extrasensory gift he possesses, known as 'shining'.

Spooky: An eerie new scene sees the infamous Grady twins standing in the corridor 

Terrifying: Directed by Mike Flanagan, (Stanley Kubrick passed away in 1999), the trailer sees now-adult Danny (Ewan McGregor) still being tormented by the events of his childhood

Abra seeks out Danny so he might help protect her from Rose the Hat [Ferguson], who feeds off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

As a result, Danny is forced to call upon his own powers and face the ghosts of the past.  

A flurry of further clips sees iconic flashbacks to The Overlook Hotel, the infamous blood elevator scene, and the spooky Grady sisters.

The master of horror released the book in 2013 as a sequel to his book, The Shining, which was originally published in 1977, adapted for the screen in 1980 by Kubrick. 

The film has been a long time coming, having first been optioned in 2014 by Warner Bros - the studio also behind the remake of King's other novel-turned-film It and the forthcoming It: Chapter Two.

After It [2017] was such a commercial success, the studio fast-tracked Doctor Sleep for production, with casting taking place across the summer of 2018.

The movie is set for a November 8 2019 release.
